Michael Amlung, PhD Laboratory Director Dr. Amlung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. He is also a faculty scientist with the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research and the Michael G. Vanessa Morris Graduate Student McMaster Integrative Neuroscience Discovery & Study (MiNDS) Program Vanessa is a fourth year graduate student of the McMaster Neuroscience program. She is currently working on her PhD at the Peter Boris Centre and the CNA lab examining the differences of intracortical myelin thickness via MRI between those with substance use disorders and healthy controls. Vanessa is the project coordinator for the lab's NIAAA-funded intracortical myelin R21 project. Herry Patel Graduate Student Neuroscience Graduate Program, McMaster University As a third year graduate student in the Neuroscience program and working in the CNALab, Herry's Master's Thesis research focused on studying Episodic Future Thinking and its effects on delay discounting and alcohol demand among individuals with addictive disorders. Herry successfully defended his Master's thesis in July 2019 and has transitioned to the Neuroscience PhD program. For his dissertation research, he hopes to integrate EEG neurofeedback into this protocol in order to develop a supplementary therapeutic technique for individuals with addictive disorders. Lana Vedelago Graduate Student Lana is a second year Masters student in the Neuroscience program. She completed her BA (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Guelph. Lana has been employed with the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research and the CNALab for the past three years as a Research Assistant, and is currently the Project Coordinator of a study on impulse control among offenders in collaboration with the Correctional Service of Canada. Emma Marsden Research Assistant Emma Marsden is a research assistant for the CNALab. She recently completed her BA (Honours) in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour at McMaster University. Emma completed a placement with the CNALab as part of a post-graduate certificate in Mental Health and Disability Management at Mohawk College. Emma is the project coordinator of the RES-CUE Imaging Study (funded by an R01 grant from NIAAA) and the Traumatic Brain Imaging in Concurrent Disorders Study. Jennifer Kim Undergraduate Honours Thesis Student/Research Assistant Jennifer Kim is a Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour student at McMaster University, with a specialization in Mental Health. In addition to her involvement in the CNALab, she works as a Junior Facilitator implementing ABA programs to children and adults on the Autism spectrum. Jane Jomy Undergraduate Research Assistant Jane Jomy is a third year Health Sciences student at McMaster University. Prior to her involvement with the CNALab, she completed an independent research study on schizophrenia-spectrum disorder, first episode psychosis at the Cleghorn Early Intervention Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. She currently volunteers on the Schizophrenia & Community Integration Service (SCIS) inpatient units. At the CNALab, her work as a research assistant focuses on exploring neuromodulatory technology in addiction and addiction-related behaviours. |
